Networking group to expand sphere

From the archive, first published Thursday 8th Nov 2007.

A BOOMING business networking service which has helped bring companies in York closer together is casting its net over one of the city's neighbours.

Network York, formed last September, has expanded by forming a new group in Leeds, where it hopes to recreate the success it has already enjoyed down the A64.

Like-minded professionals from a string of business sectors have already signed up the Network Leeds service.

Organiser Anne Ma'aye, of social networking group Arts Liaisons - who established Network York with Michael Menzies-Baird, of Harland & Co solicitors, and Joe Postill, of Jenson's Printers - said: "Our networks in York and Leeds give members the opportunity to make new contacts with a view to giving and referring new business to each other.

"We focus on spotting opportunities for synergy and the building of relationships - and this seems to benefit everybody who attends."

Networking champion Etta Cohen, whose support group Forward Ladies helps businesswomen across Yorkshire, attended the first meeting of Network Leeds and said: "The initial response was extremely positive and I am sure it will be a great success - as it has already been in York."
